“County loan keeps Cascadia from closing its doors”

from portland.tribune.com:

“Multnomah County’s Board of Commissioners granted unanimous approval Tuesday morning to a $2.5 million loan to Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare, avoiding for now a shut down of regional mental health services…

“County officials stressed that the $2.5 million loan provides a 60-day breathing space for the county to reorganize mental health services and its local contracts, without doing harm to client services. Discussions are under way to shift some services to other mental health providers. It is not clear that Cascadia will survive in its present form beyond July 1.”

Related note: the Tribune has dropped to once-a-week publishing of its print edition, and has revamped portlandtribune.com (formerly localnewsdaily.com) to provide frequent (daily?) news updates.
