Hey readers, thanks for your patience… I’m co-organizing a dance event this weekend, and all of my free time lately has gone to practicing and teaching the dance to folks. I have a moment here and wanted to mark a couple of things.
First, the Garlington Center (3034 NE MLK) caught fire the other day. Police label this fire “suspicious,” according to the Oregonian; part of the center burned, and Cascadia (operator of the Garlington Center, which serves “mental patients” [terminology used by multiple news organizations covering the fire]) aims to have it reopen as soon as possible. Undoubtedly, I will get photos of the building up as soon as possible.
The Willamette Week ran a story today about “40 Days for Life,” the campaign to protest the proposed Planned Parenthood on MLK, which found a new construction firm to build it after protesters ran off Walsh Construction.
And lastly for today, the Vista Business Center at Vanport Square (5257 MLK) today and tomorrow hosts a ‘mini-conference and tradeshow’ hosted by the Differently-Abled Business Association, which aims to support entrepreneurs with disabilities in Oregon.
