Join us this Spring for an international 40-day campaign of prayer, fasting, and peaceful prayer vigil outside a local abortion facility. People of all  faiths are coming together to pray and fast for an end to  abortion.

The program consists of:
*
40 days of prayer and fasting
* 40 days of peaceful vigil
40 days of community outreach

We are praying that, with God’s help, this ground-breaking effort will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in Portland, Oregon, and throughout America!

While all aspects of 40 DFL are important in our effort to end abortion, the most visible component is the peaceful prayer vigil outside the local abortion facility.
We need you!

You can help make a life-saving impact by joining our local vigil at:

Planned Parenthood
3727 NE MLK Jr. Blvd (Cross street is NE Beech St)
Portland, Oregon

We hope to have two or more people at this site, seven days a week, from 9 to 6. Call us. We want to FILL the vigil schedule.

FIRST EVENT:

Please come to our opening event on Saturday, February 18th, 2012 at the Planned Parenthood: 3727 NE MLK Jr. Blvd, from 2:00 to 3:00. There will be a speaker from ORTL, and the leaders of our local campaign, for inspiration and  encouragement.

Abortion is the leading cause of death in Oregon.

  1. “Abortion is the leading cause of death in Oregon.”

Really? The CDC seems to disagree with you. I’m not going to argue with any of you over your opinion on pro-life/pro-choice, but to spread such blatant misinformation is beyond low. Basically, you’re lying, stop it.

    1. I don’t see abortion anywhere in that article. This leads to a couple questions, was abortion considered by the cdc? Does “science” even consider abortion (of any kind) as an official form of death? Has any research been done as to how many deaths are caused by abortion. I certainly disagree wtih a sweeping generalization such as “abortion is the leading cause of death in Oregon” but abortion is a major issue that needs to be addressed.

  2. It’s great to see that people care about life. However, aside from your name, you don’t seem to be about anything besides abortion. What other ways of sustaining life are you working on? Please let me know about your work to end wars, decrease crime, fight systemic diseases such as cancer, and I’m especially interested in your work against the tobacco industry. As you know, cigarette smoking is a major cause of spontaneous abortions (aka, miscarriages). Thanks.

    1. That simply isn’t fair to expect one movement to try to spread its focus on every single threat to life on this planet. What have you done? If you don’t feel called to work towards stopping abortion than perhaps your efforts are better spent fighting any of the other innumerable offenses to life that you have mentioned. Most likely you just sit on your computer and troll the internet complaining about everything and hoping someone else will fix your problems. But maybe not, you obviously care about justice, perhaps you are one of the few who will stand.

  3. Clearly some of the commenters were sloppy in their homework and didn’t gather all the facts before posting opinions based on incomplete data.

According to the state of Oregon, the leading cause of death in the state is ABORTION: 7,994 in the last year ( http://public.health.oregon.gov/BirthDeathCertificates/VitalStatistics/abortion/Documents/abortion11.pdf )

Compare that with the cited CDC data on other leading causes of death: Cancer- 7,393; Heart disease- 6,655; Stroke- 1,835 ( http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/states/OR.pdf )

Just because someone doesn’t want to acknowledge the truth does not change the facts. Abortion kills more people in Oregon than any other cause … and it must be eradicated.
